Argument Outliner

A working editor for making the structure of an argument visible

Fall 2025 · Working tool on this site

Overview

A browser-based tool I built for outlining arguments and their premises. It provides a dedicated editing structure for reasoning: rearrange an argument, refer to another premise, and keep the numbering and references in step with the outline.

Role: Designer and developer

Technical Stack

Notable Features & Challenges

  • Argument and premise numbering that updates with the outline
  • References to other arguments and premises with linked labels
  • Keyboard controls for indenting and rearranging items
  • Local browser saving, copy/export, and print support
  • Source-passage and notepad panels on wider screens

Outcome & Status

A usable connection between engineering and philosophy: a focused workspace for inspecting the structure of reasoning while writing. Available directly on this site.
